Diwali is among the most widely observed holidays in India. It's also known as 'The Festival of Lights'. The origin of this holiday traces back to the times of Bhagwan Ram (who is a form of Shree Krishna). When Bhagwan Ram was returning to Ayodhya after 14 years of absence, the citizens decorated all the streets with lights for Him. Once He arrived in Ayodhya, He was greeted by all of His friends, relatives and well-wishers and all of them longed to embrace Him after the long separation. To fulfill their desire Bhagwan Ram expanded into multiple forms, so that everyone could meet Him at the same time. We celebrate Diwali to commemorate that event.
