Sharad Purnima, Jagadguru Jayanti, and Mandir Anniversary
Brzegi, Poland – October 5, 2025
Radha Govind Bhakti Yog Mandir in Brzegi, near Kraków, hosted a spiritually uplifting and culturally rich celebration on Sunday, October 5th, 2025. The event marked the observance of three significant occasions: Sharad Purnima, the appearance day of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, and the third anniversary of the Mandir’s inauguration.
Sharad Purnima: A Night of Divine Love
Sharad Purnima, celebrated on the full moon night of the Hindu lunar month of Ashwin, holds deep significance in the Vaishnav tradition. It commemorates the night when Radha Krishna performed the Maharaas Leela—a divine dance with the Gopis that revealed the highest form of selfless, divine love. According to tradition, this sacred night symbolizes spiritual completeness and the soul’s intimate union with the Divine.
Jagadguru Jayanti: Honoring a Spiritual Luminary
This same full moon night also marks the birth anniversary of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, who appeared in 1922 in the village of Mangarh, near Allahabad, India. Recognized as the fifth original Jagadguru in Indian history, Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj revived the path of Raganuga Bhakti—a form of loving devotion to Radha Krishna, in the same intimate and loving manner as the Gopis. His teachings continue to inspire seekers around the world to pursue divine love through personal, heartfelt devotion.
To commemorate these two sacred events, a special satsang was held at the Mandir at 11:00 AM, which included devotional kirtan, spiritual discourse, bhog, arti, and a cake-cutting ceremony in honor of Jagadguru Jayanti. The program provided an opportunity for reflection, celebration, and collective worship.
Third Anniversary of the Mandir
Later in the day, the Mandir observed its third anniversary as a center of devotion, learning, and cultural exchange in Poland. Since its opening in 2022, Radha Govind Bhakti Yog Mandir has become a spiritual home for individuals seeking to deepen their practice of Bhakti Yoga and learn about Indian spiritual and cultural traditions.
The anniversary celebration began at 1:00 PM with a cultural program that highlighted the richness of Indian classical arts and fostered cross-cultural dialogue.
Cultural Program Highlights
The program opened with a performance titled “Indian Music and Appreciation of Indian Arts and Culture”, featuring Filip Ruciński (sitar) and Piotr Malec (tabla). The musical offerings included:
- A rendition of Vande Mataram
- Remarks in Polish and Hindi highlighting the value of Indian art traditions
- A performance of Raga Jog
- A tabla solo in Tintal, showcasing classical forms such as Peshkar, Kaida, Rela, and Tukra
The event continued with a theatrical presentation by the Non-European Theatre Group “SECESJA”. Directed by Klaudia Kuc, the group presented a trilingual (Polish–Hindi–Sanskrit) etude titled “Śakuntala. The Sign of Recognition”, inspired by the classical Indian play by Kalidasa. The performance explored universal human emotions through a fusion of languages, cultures, and styles.
A special feature of the production was a Bharatanatyam dance performance by Arpita Banerjee, which added a classical Indian dance dimension to the intercultural interpretation of the ancient drama.
The day concluded with a spirit of gratitude and unity, as participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in both spiritual celebration and cultural enrichment. The event reaffirmed Radha Govind Bhakti Yog Mandir’s mission to serve as a hub of devotion, learning, and intercultural connection in Poland.
